Let’s get starters

Go crazy for these gorgeous Loaded Falafel Nachos - super for sharing with that special someone. If you’re more up for a romantic movie and snuggle on the sofa, you could even skip dinner and simply tuck into these. But they’re also the perfect way to start your Valentine's meal. You can prep everything in advance, then bake the Falafel Nachos while you gaze deeply into one another’s eyes. Or simply have a chat. Add guac, vegan sour cream, salsa, or whatever their favourite dip is. (Extra brownie points for remembering.) With so much texture and unforgettable flavour, your night is off to a delicious start.

Memorable main courses

*Chef’s kiss* for this Easy Tofu Meatballs & Pasta recipe. (Recreating the classic spaghetti kiss is optional!) It’s always said the Italians know a lot about ‘amore’, and this Italian inspired dish is one everyone will love. Rich tomato sauce, herby meat-free ball bites, and your favourite pasta. You can prepare the meatballs and sauce in advance, then warm through while the pasta is cooking. (Top tip: If your sauce gets a little thick, add a little of the pasta water to it.)

Or how about Tofu Pesto Lasagne? With flavours to savour, it’s a winning vegan Valentine's dinner idea. Get it ready earlier in the day, and you won’t spend the evening cooking. Simply leave it bubbling in the oven while you enjoy a tasty little starter. Then serve with a green salad, and wait for the compliments to roll in. Our version is vegan, but you can make simple switches for a veggie lasagne option.

Very special vegan dessert

If food is the way to their heart, dessert has to be the shortcut. But a lazy fruit salad won’t cut it. Instead, let them go all gooey over this Vegan White Chocolate and Raspberry Crème Brulee. Creamy, dreamy, it’s heaven on any Valentine’s plate. All the prep is done in advance (it needs at least 2 hours to chill, so you can too), then pop it under the grill for a few minutes before serving. Then they can enjoy being waited on, not waiting around. As well as tasting absolutely irresistible, classic Valentine’s colours of red and white make this the ideal Valentine's dinner table finale.

If you’re hosting a vegan Valentine’s meal, be sure to check any drinks you’re serving are vegan too (as many wines are not.) Paying attention to all the details, as well as your date, is sure to pay off. So don’t forget to consider the soundtrack to your romantic vegetarian dinner too. As Shakespeare might have said, ‘If music be the food of love, you might end up a bit hungry this Valentine’s Day.’ If you need a helping hand with the playlist, Spotify has you covered.

So turn up the music, turn down the lights, and turn on… the oven. Because with every mouthful of this Valentine’s menu, it’ll be love at first bite.
