American food has become synonymous with fast, and processed food. But traditional American food is absolutely bursting with fresh and vibrant flavours – if you know where to look! Here at Cauldron, we love a twist on a classic and creating traditional American food that is both vegan or vegetarian! We’ve collected our favourite American food recipes and showcased them below in celebration of July 4th.

1. South West American Mac & Cheese

Ok, so mac & cheese might not be the healthiest option to start on but boy, does it taste good! We’ll start the proceedings off with a more indulgent traditional American staple food. If you speak to any American, they all have their own individual recipe for how to make the best mac & cheese, but we’re pretty proud of ours too! Featuring our vegetarian Lincolnshire sausages, this recipe includes chipotles and chilli to cut through the cheese.

2. Boston Beans and Sausage One Pot

This firesome one-pot wonder offers a vegetarian take on the old American classic! Throw it back to the Wild West with Cauldron’s hearty Lincolnshire Sausages and earthy cannellini beans, all fired up with spicy chipotle and smoky paprika. Perfect for sharing with friends around a roaring campfire or your kitchen table, it delivers on flavour time after time

3. USA Spicy Buffalo Tofu Bites

You can’t get more classic than Buffalo wings! Created in 1964 at Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, they are traditionally served hot along with celery sticks and sauces for dipping. Our take on the traditional American dish has everything but the meat, but is sure to pack just as much punch as the real deal. Just make sure you’ve got something soothing on hand for the spice!

4. Smoky American Barbecue Burger

A smoky BBQ burger is a perfect food for any Fourth of July celebrations! Sat atop a light bun, the lightly glazed tofu burger is best served with melted cheese, gherkins and lashings of hickory smoke barbeque sauce. You can either cook this over a barbecue or in the oven (just in case the British weather conspires to ruin the fun!).

Southern fried in our own blend of not-so-secret seven herbs and spices, this recipe transforms the Cauldron Organic Tofu block into crisp, golden bites bursting with flavour. Serve with a spicy vegan slaw and a homemade honey mustard dip for a delicious American-inspired feast!

6. California Falafel Glow Bowl

Street and healthy food such as the falafel bowl is very popular in the sunshine states like California. But why not try an American take on an Asian classic? The Californian Falafel and Soba Glow Bowl does just that with crunchy vegetables, refreshing and authentic flavours. Personalise by simply substituting your favourite flavours in.
