Sustainability FAQs
The soya beans in our tofu range are organic and are certified against Proterra Certification Standards for social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
Our soya is organic too and we never use palm oil. We support zero deforestation practices and all Cauldron tofu is GMO-free.
Most of our product packaging is widely recyclable, including our cardboard sleeves and plastic trays. Make sure that on our Falafel and Sausage products you keep the film attached to the tray so that they are 100% recyclable at home.
We are still working on our other plastic film lids that we use to seal our product trays, as they are not currently recyclable. Watch this space though, as we're aiming to have 100% of our packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.
We are no longer taking the shorter term action of offsetting our carbon emissions as a brand. We have changed our focus to ensure we have a greater impact in the long run as a brand, through how we decarbonise our supply chain. This means investing in low emission or renewable energy, machinery with lower energy demands and exploring opportunities for carbon capture and heat recovery at our factory. These new steps will mean we are investing for the future to help have an even greater impact on the health of the planet.
All Cauldron foods products are free from palm oil.
In 2023, we reduced emissions by 84% in areas experts know as Scopes 1 & 2 compared to reported emissions in 2012! Being Net Positive is all about putting in more than we take out, and this is our target to smash by 2030.
A few of the things we are proud of are:
100% of our cardboard is PEFC/FSC certified and our falafel packaging is fully recyclable at home (but please leave the film attached to the tray when you throw this pack in your recycling bin). We plan for every piece of our colourful packaging to be recyclable or reusable by 2030 at the very latest!
We only use sustainable soya ingredients. This means that our supply does not support deforestation practices and every single soya bean you tuck into by enjoying our products has been certified against one of these standards: Proterra Foundation, Basel Criteria for Responsible Soy Production, or Europe Soya standard.
We never use palm oil in Cauldron products.
Yes. We work with Climate Partner to provide carbon footprint certification for all our core products. This covers everything from ingredients to packaging, energy used making the product to transportation, and waste treatment too. Find them here.
